Mobile Home
Heaters
Mobile homes
are more likely than the other types of homes to heat with propane
(LPG). More than one-third of mobile homes use electricity and
about one-third use natural gas for heating.
Manufactured
homes often have higher energy bills than comparably sized site-built
homes. While their construction style poses some restrictions,
there are still many energy improvements you can make on a mobile
home that will save you money and increase the homes comfort,
health and safety, and durability.
The
first place to start is choosing high efficiency heating equipment.
If your mobile home has older, inefficient heating consider a
replacement system. The money you save on heating costs can quickly
repay the purchase price. This is usually the most important energy
improvement and can save thousands of dollars over the life of
the home.
The Portable Furnace
is the
most economical way to heat.
In Midwestern Utility field tests
for heating seasons, the Portable Furnace used an average of 35%
less energy than conventional electric furnace/baseboard systems.
Comparable results were found during comparisons with fuel based
heating systems. Individual results, of course, depend on insulation
values, local climate, and other conditions.
Portable Furnace users
agree that it is
the best value available.
